The Mississippi Poetry Project Contest Winners

This year's theme was nature. The goal of the Mississippi Poetry Project is to help students experience the joy and accomplishment that can come from writing poetry, and from sharing their own voices, words, and experiences.

The image is a newsletter for Casey Elementary School, featuring a collage of photographs depicting students engaged in various educational activities in the classroom.

The Casey Newsletter showcases academic achievements, visual and performing arts programs, community events, school activities, and much more.

(3rd-5th Grade) MAC Teaching Artist Chris Espinosa visits Casey Elementary!

We are incredibly grateful for the talent, passion, and creativity that Chris, improv and melodrama extraordinaire, brought to Casey Elementary last Friday!

Chris flawlessly engaged our 3rd–5th grade scholars in an unforgettable drama experience that was not only entertaining, but deeply instructional. Through performance, students strengthened their understanding of point of view in a way that was meaningful and fun.

He also lead a PD with our lower elementary teachers, demonstrating innovative ways to bring learning to life by dramatizing shapes based on their attributes, which is perfect for our youngest scholars!

Joe Overstreet Contest Winners!

25 of our 4th and 5th grade scholars earned an unforgettable experience after winning our school writing competition tied to the powerful work of Mississippi artist Joe Overstreet.

Last week, those winning scholars attended the Taking Flight exhibit at the Mississippi Museum of Art, and what a time we had! Curiosity, creativity, and deep thinking filled EVERY moment.

Thank you to the Museum of Art for providing such a meaningful opportunity for our students to connect literacy and art!
