Two masters of the West African balafon Balla Kouyaté and Famoro Dioubaté, graced the stage at Casey Elementary.

Casey Elementary welcomed two guest artist of the West African balafon-an ancient instrument that paved the way for the modern xylophone and vibraphone. Originally from Mali and Guinea, and now based in Boston and New York, these two griots-guardians of oral history and musical tradition-bring centuries  of heritage to life through their music.

They shared the mesmerizing sounds of the balafon, along with stories, rhythms, and cultural wisdom passed down through generations. Their performance is a celebration of history, creativity, and connection-and we are honored to have had them here with us.
