Casey Elementary students learned storytelling and folk tales to inspire and improve their Language Arts skills

Casey Elementary students learned storytelling and folk tales to inspire and improve their Language Arts skills

Visiting Artist: Da Terrence Roberts (Da Story Weaver)

February 9, 2024 - In this residency, K-5 students learned the elements of storytelling, and used them to tell or retell traditional folktales in their own way. The students also wrote their own version of a folktale based on one of the stories they learned during the residency. In addition, students gained new skills in Communication, Collaboration, Critical Thinking and Creativity. This project is supported in part by funding from the Mississippi Arts Commission, a state agency, and the National Endowment for the Arts, a federal agency.
